Today is always an exciting day, but spring is especially exciting this year because the change of seasons also welcomes our new Executive Director Rachel Laiserin.
Rachel has extensive administrative experience working for New York City government agencies including the Department of Design and Construction, Housing Preservation and Development, and the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications. She has expertise in the areas of budgeting, project management, and intergovernmental affairs.
Rachel also worked for many years as an activist to improve the state of public education for New York City students and has many ties to the NYC grassroots advocacy community that is so critical to WRP’s work. In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations. Rachel has a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Rachel said she was drawn to the use of a simple, tangible idea to educate citizens about global climate change while providing opportunities to take action. White roofing empowers individuals to get involved in their communities and become part of even greater efforts to curb climate change for the betterment of our community and our world.
